Patron Membership Frequently Asked Questions

Why a patron membership?

Patron members are truly at the heart of our mission. Your support helps us provide exceptional animal care and create a zoo experience that consistently ranks Omaha’s Zoo among the best in the world. Your donation also helps us create new world-class exhibits, provide outstanding, one-of-a-kind educational programming and engage in vital conservation research. To show our gratitude for your support, patron members also receive special benefits such as Zoo and Wildlife Safari Park admission for two additional guests per visit and much more! See the full benefits here.

What is a caregiver? Are they the same as a nanny?

A caregiver is a designated person that can use your membership to accompany your children to the Zoo or to enter with you to assist with children or any member with different abilities. Each patron membership receives two membership cards, so to simplify admission you can give one of your membership cards to your caregiver (the two named members can also use their IDs or digital membership card for admission). Please call the Foundation office at (402) 738-2073 to add your caregiver’s name to your record. They will be asked to show a membership card and photo ID on each visit. Please note: the caregiver is not a named member, so they must accompany named members to be admitted. The caregiver cannot utilize the two additional guests benefit when visiting without you.

What is the base level of patron memberships?

Patron memberships begin at $500, with increasing benefits at higher levels of support. We want to ensure that patron members receive an enhanced zoo experience so that you can see the wonderful ways your gift is put to work. Any amount above the cash value of your membership is a donation to the Omaha Zoo Foundation, and it is how we continue to improve the zoo, provide the animals new homes, and continue our conservation initiatives. What are wristbands? How do I get them?

You can print wristbands for the number of guests entering on your membership each day (with a maximum of 10). To get your wristbands, visit Guest Services or utilize one of the kiosks inside the Zoo. These benefits are not available for resale.

Is a portion of my patron membership tax-deductible?

Can my listed caregiver take my children to the Zoo when I’m not with them?
