World-Class

Care

The new, world-class Bill & Berniece Grewcock Animal Hospital is complete, expanding the technology, capabilities, and capacity that support exceptional veterinary care. This animal hospital builds on the outstanding care our veterinary team provides every day.

Why this new hospital matters.

The veterinary team works tirelessly to look after the welfare of each animal at Omaha’s Zoo. The exceptional care they provide is a key reason we are ranked the best Zoo in the nation.

As the Zoo has grown, so have the demands of animal care. Our previous animal hospital served the Zoo well for nearly 30 years, but the need for expanded space, modern tools, and enhanced training opportunities led to the creation of a new facility.

Now complete, this world-class animal hospital builds on a legacy of exceptional care.

The new animal hospital is a 32,000-square-foot facility that will meet the needs of our animal care mission for years to come.

The new animal hospital is designed so we can perform as much care on-site — and new kinds of care — as possible.

A more powerful x-ray system, which will accommodate larger animals

Dedicated wards for hospitalized and quarantined animals

CT scanner for on-site scans
Endoscopy equipment

Aquatic space to accommodate quarantined water-dwelling animals

Multipurpose rooms that can be adapted as needed, such as for nursery care
New space to accommodate hoofstock species and other large animals

As a supporter of our Zoo and the animals in our care, you help power the care behind the scenes. Now that our new, state-of-the-art hospital is complete, support for operations ensures this facility can fully serve our veterinary team as they provide exceptional care to all the species we are privileged to protect.
